KORY J. KOTRBA

Kory is a partner at Brooks, Cameron, & Huebsch, PLLC. and practices in the area of intellectual property. Kory is a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and trademark Office and is admitted to practice law in the state of Minnesota. He received his chemical engineering degree with honors from the University of North Dakota and went on to earn his law degree from the University of Saint Thomas School of Law.

Kory’s practice includes the drafting and prosecution of hundreds of US, PCT and foreign patent applications in diverse technical areas including chemical engineering, catalyst/polymer chemistry, internet of things, mechanical systems, electrical and electro-mechanical systems, wireless communications and data networking including various aspects of LTE baseband processing, carrier aggregation, shared antenna systems and frequency coexistence management, bandwidth optimization, non-cellular wireless technologies including NFC and RFID, video coding and communication protocols, and various other wireless communications areas.

For the last 12 years, Kory has assisted companies in the development of their technology. Prior to working at Brooks, Cameron, & Huebsch, PLLC., Kory evaluated product performance at Medtronic. In this capacity, he participated in the development, marketing, and on-going monitoring of medical devices in accordance with federal regulations. Following his time at Medtronic, Kory was the co-founder and managing partner of the firm Dang & Kotrba, Law Office, PLLC where he gained experience in a variety of legal areas including intellectual property. At present, Kory is a team lead for the docket of a Fortune 500 corporation. 

Kory performs client counseling, due diligence, and opinion work (infringement analysis, freedom to operate, etc.) for various start-up and multi-national clients including several Fortune 500 corporations.

In addition, Kory has significant experience counseling start-up and multi-national clients for purposes of procuring IP protection on products, commercializing IP protected products, and licensing of IP protected products.

In his free time Kory enjoys golf, skiing, running, coaching soccer, and spending time with his family.
