Zach attended the University of Minnesota, receiving a degree in Mechanical Engineering while focusing on heat transfer and thermal science. While attending the University of Minnesota, Zach worked for an engineering firm providing analysis, measurement and verification for building energy management and conservation strategies for new commercial buildings. Before attending law school, Zach worked at the University of Minnesota doing particle technology research, including HEPA filter testing and ozone production measurement in residential HVAC systems. While attending law school, Zach worked as a law clerk at Brooks, Cameron & Huebsch.
